QQI renews MOU with CEAIE

QQI has renewed its memorandum of understanding with the China Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE).

CEAIE is a not-for-profit organisation that conducts international educational exchanges, working with educational and research institutions, academic bodies, exchange organisations, schools, as well as organisations in other countries and regions engaged in the promotion of educational development and quality assurance. CEAIE develops accreditation standards and procedures and best practices, and accredits Chinese-international joint programmes with universities, colleges and high schools in China. It is committed to promoting collaboration between Chinese and international institutions and ensuring and enhancing the quality of cooperative operations.

This MOU will support continued collaboration and exchange between QQI and CEAIE over the next three years in mutually-agreed areas related to quality assurance, such as observing, monitoring and reviewing accreditation practices, engaging in capacity building, and developing means through which providers operating in both China and lreland can be made aware of the quality standards set by the relevant authorities.

The MOU was signed at the meeting held between QQI and CEAIE on 10 November by QQI CEO, Dr Padraig Walsh, and Dr An Yan, Deputy Secretary-General, CEAIE.

The meeting was attended by senior representatives from a number of Chinese higher education institutions and from the Department of Cross-Border Education Evaluation and Cooperation, China Academic Degrees and Graduate Education Development Center (CDGDC), the Chinese Government-affiliated body responsible for quality standards in higher education. Representatives from Education in Ireland and the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science also attended. QQI presented the new International Education Mark to the delegates from China, who were very interested to hear about the new mark, and other areas discussed were updates, priorities for the coming year, and areas of common challenge and opportunity.
