QQI & ETBs: an evolving QA relationship
With the conclusion of the post-inaugural review quality dialogue meetings (QDMs) and the publication of all follow-up reports, QQI would like to take this moment to thank the management, staff and students of all 16 Education & Training Boards (ETBs) for their generous hospitality and close engagement over the entire course of this process.
Systematic annual quality reporting is a key element of QQI’s cycle of engagement with providers, and following completion of the inaugural review and follow-up reporting process, the development of a systematic AQR process for ETBs will be undertaken within the context of a parallel development of a new QQI monitoring framework. This development testifies to the maturing and evolving QA relationship between QQI and the sector.
Establishing an AQR process embedded within internal and external quality reporting processes is an important development, one which will be undertaken through careful collaboration and consultation with the sector. QQI acknowledges this will take time, and it is envisaged the formal systematic reporting process with the submission of AQRs from the ETBs will begin in 2026.
In advance of these significant changes, QQI will continue to monitor and seek periodic QA updates from the ETBs. We look forward to building on these strong foundations as we work with colleagues across the sector in delivering the highest standards in education provision.
