Leading On and Supporting Academic Integrity in Higher Education
On Thursday 9 September 2021, Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science, Simon Harris TD launched two important new resources to support higher education institutions in fostering a culture of academic integrity:
• Academic Integrity: National Principles and a Lexicon of Common Terms
• Academic Integrity Guidelines
Produced by the National Academic Integrity Network, in collaboration with QQI, these key documents are intended to help institutions develop a constructive and robust approach to academic integrity and academic misconduct, while drawing on universally understood terminology when talking or writing about academic integrity in the context of Irish higher education and training.
Dr Sarah Eaton, Associate Professor and Educational Leader in Residence at Werkland School of Education, University of Calgary brought an international perspective to the event. Her presentation explored how public and private higher education institutions can demonstrate leadership in the area of educational ethics and academic integrity.
