Finding Common Ground Event
On 10 December, 2021, QQI welcomed over 100 attendees from across the sphere of professional education to a virtual event as part of its Finding Common Ground programme. This programme of engagement commenced in 2019 and aims to facilitate the sharing of information between professional statutory and regulatory bodies (PSRBs), higher education institutions (HEIs) and QQI. The event was the tenth in the series and focused on:
- developments in the micro-credentials space, both in Ireland and Australia,
- work-based learning and placements,
- the discrete and shared roles and responsibilities of professional bodies and HEIs, and
- plans for Finding Common Ground in 2022 and beyond.
There were presentations on the day from:
- Associate Professor Klaus Veil, President, Australian Council of Professions/Professions Australia
- Dr Alison Farrell, Senior Lead for Sectoral Engagement, National Forum for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning in Higher Education
- Mary Lyons, Director of Enterprise, Employees & Skills, SOLAS
- Dr Lynn Ramsey, Micro-credentials Project Lead, Irish Universities Association
- Karena Maguire, Head of Partnerships, QQI
The panel discussion was chaired by QQI’s Director of Integration, Dr Bryan Maguire and included:
- Carolyn Donohoe, Director of Education, Policy & Standards, Nursing & Midwifery Board of Ireland
- Bronwyn Molony, Director of Quality, University College Dublin
- Ronan O’Loughlin, Director of Education & Training, Chartered Accountants Ireland
