Blended Learning Seminar 1: Blended Learning, QA and Academic Management
As part of its COVID-19 response, QQI developed a Blended Learning Seminar Series in collaboration with experienced national and international experts. The focus of the seminars has been on the implementation of successful blended delivery from a quality assurance perspective.
This short seminar helped set the agenda for the remainder of the seminars.
Highlights of the event included:
• An overview of the quality assurance guidelines for blended learning and the recent report produced by QQI on The Impact of Covid-19 Modifications to Teaching, Learning and Assessment in Irish Further Education and Training and Higher Education - Dr Bryan Maguire, Director of Quality Assurance at QQI. This presentation can be viewed here.
• Professor Mark Brown, Professor and Director of the National Institute for Digital Learning at Dublin City University, presented expert advice on the institution-wide issues and challenges to consider for digital learning and teaching initiatives required to manage a blended learning campus environment.
• A brief summary of teaching and learning resources available from the National Forum for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning was provided by Dr Alison Farrell.
• A poll carried out during the event to gather feedback from participants to establish priority topics for a deeper focus at future events. Comments, links and questions gathered at the seminar are also available to view.
